Welcome Home Isaac

Tonight we had Isaac’s presentation to the club about his Rotary Exchange adventure in Finland or Soumi 2018 (Soumi is the Native name for his Rotary Exchange).

Isaac clearly had a fabulous time and was able to see much of Europe whilst studying and trying to learn the language. Isaac travelled from Norway up to the Arctic Circle, saw the Northern lights and visited Santa in Lapland. He travelled South to Austria, Germany and Switzerland to name a few. He crossed ice covered rivers and tried swimming in a near frozen stream. His ice skating and skiing skills were improved from living in snow covered areas through the winter.

A camaraderie was built up with children of host families and with other Rotary exchangees from around the world. Friendships that will follow throughout his life.

Isaacs jacket provided by the club was fully covered in badges collected along the way. If he wore it on the way home he would have set the alarms off at all the airports he passed through. In his luggage it would have taken up a lot of his weight allowance. A wonderful memento to go with all his memories.

Isaac certainly made good use of his time away and was grateful to the Club for its sponsorship and for Keith Rendell his Mentor.

2019 NYSF Post-Forum Presentation

  • Post author:

Last Sunday I arrived home from Canberra after completing the National Youth Science Forum. The session was definitely one of the best experiences of my entire life where I was exposed to a multitude of STEM careers and pathways. I found the program eye-opening and extremely valuable. It was also an opportunity for me to meet many other like-minded peers from all around Australia coming from different walks of life. I would like to especially thank the Rotary Club of Modbury Golden Grove for enabling me to go on this truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. I truly am grateful for the club’s support in allowing me to attend this forum. I would be more than happy to arrange a time to provide a recount of all that I have learnt and found valuable during my time at the NYSF. Once again, I thank you and the club for your ongoing support.

Kind Regards,

Thank You Sandali for sharing your passion for science and you amazing trip to the National Youth Science Forum.
