2019 NYSF Post-Forum Presentation

Last Sunday I arrived home from Canberra after completing the National Youth Science Forum. The session was definitely one of the best experiences of my entire life where I was exposed to a multitude of STEM careers and pathways. I found the program eye-opening and extremely valuable. It was also an opportunity for me to meet many other like-minded peers from all around Australia coming from different walks of life. I would like to especially thank the Rotary Club of Modbury Golden Grove for enabling me to go on this truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. I truly am grateful for the club’s support in allowing me to attend this forum. I would be more than happy to arrange a time to provide a recount of all that I have learnt and found valuable during my time at the NYSF. Once again, I thank you and the club for your ongoing support.

Kind Regards,
Sandali

Thank You Sandali for sharing your passion for science and you amazing trip to the National Youth Science Forum.

Rob presenting Krishiv his award

Tonight we met an extraordinary young man who we as a club decided to award the Good News Award to. Krishiv Khanna, a local Golden Grove boy who for his 11th Birthday forgone presents to raise money for draught-affected farmers. Thanks to the support of his family and his fellow Year 5 Golden Grove Primary classmates he was able to raise $200 which was donated to Buy A Bale Initiative.

In a special twist of tonight’s meeting Krishiv bought along another personal donation PLUS asked that his prize from the GN Award to be also sent to the Draught-Affected Farmers. To say the least we are very proud and honored to meet such a special young person and his wonderful family.

Congratulations to Josephine M. of Modbury High School. Josephine also gained a merit for her Research Project, an SA Governors Commendation for Excellence in SACE, the SA Principals Association Scholarship and gained direct entry into an Honours course in Chemical Engineering. A marvellous reward for her dedication and hard work. Josephine talked of the many schools she had attended both within Australia and overseas. She has a love of languages and is currently teaching German to a person who is teaching her French. She is very keen on the Environment and wants to work to improve the Environment through her Chemical Engineering and hopefully find new solutions to challenges the world currently has. It was inspiring to hear her talk about using her skills to help others. Josephine is a fine player and singer of music and is keen to continue this with her sister and to one day with luck release a record. Josephine is a true inspiration who represents a new generation with new ideas and great ideals.
